La Minka
These vessels are a work in progress in collaboration with Artillery AG studio for the La Mink’a BIPOC Apprenticeship Program. In the Quechua language of the Inca, Mink’a translates to traditional, communal work. The foundation of this practice is the belief that there is wisdom, power, and honor in the collective.
Both pieces are water vessels: one for preserving cold water and one for heating water. The cold water vessel is decorated with native California poppies to represent mindful use of water and harmonious community. The hot water vessel reflects the culture and curiosities of the Apprenticeship Program’s members.
